How I Use My Stand Mixer

Kitchenaid

I have a KitchenAid KSM150PSMC Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Metallic Chrome, and I love it.  Within a reasonable price range, after extensive research I came to the conclusion that its the best mixer on the market.  It doesn’t get bogged down with heavy cookie batters, cleans up easily, and is pretty enough to leave on the counter, which is great because my kitchen is only 12.5′ X 12′ so I didn’t build in a lift out cupboard for it.  It comes in some amazing shades too – decisions decisions!

Many people I know use theirs for kneading bread dough, and it does come with a great dough hook, which works great for heavy cookie batters too.  Mostly I use my KitchenAid for whipping cream and for mixing cookie or cake batters, especially whipped shortbread, yum.   I can even triple most batters easily in the big bowl, then throw it and the attachments in the dishwasher for easy cleanup.  So far I’ve added on a food grinder attachment] and a pasta roller and cutter attachment.  I drape my pasta to dry on an indoor clothes rack.  I’m still not sure if its worth the extra work to make home made pasta, but I can’t resist once in a while.  I think the next attachment I will add will be the ice cream maker, mmmm frozen yogurt. In fact, there are many appliances your KitchenAid can replace simply by adding attachments. Initially it seems like the attachments cost a lot of money, but these products are made to last for decades, and can be compared to the cost of an additional appliance, while taking less room to store than a complete additional appliance.
