Shower Curtains and Rods

shower rodThere are some beautiful shower curtains available these days, but one item a lot of people overlook is the benefits of the new curved shower rods –Zenith 56-Inch to 72-Inch Adjustable Curved Rod.  They give you extra space when you’re in a traditional tub/shower combination, by up to almost a foot!  I put them in both of my bathrooms with shower/tub combinations.  Take a look at your rod, many are old and rusty looking.  You’ll be surprised how much style such a simple change can add to a bathroom.

hooksWith regard to the shower curtain hooks, I’ve become very fussy about them.  After buying many very pretty sets, and going through the painful process of either reattaching them or yanking hard to get the curtain to move, I now buy plain chrome-plated brass shower hooks that click closed so they don’t fall off the rod or slip out of the curtain.  The curtain glides easily along the rod as you come and go.  Shower Curtain Hooks Bright Chrome Plated Brass, Shower Curtain Hooks Set of 12 chrome | 96570, plain but perfectly functioning.  Sometimes that’s the best way to go.

shower curtain 2For a standard height rod, this InterDesign Thistle 72-Inch by 72-Inch Shower Curtain has a pretty, contemporary design. There are many designs to choose from to go with whatever color scheme you like.  A clear liner is nice for use with a pretty patterned color curtain. Maytex No More Mildew Shower Curtain Liner, Clear is mildew resistant.

shabby chicIf you like the shabby chic look, this White Gypsy Shabby Chic Ruffled Fabric Shower Curtain is adorable.  Its sheer, so you can decide whether to put a clear or white curtain liner behind it.  Personally I would go with clear, and allow the frosted effect to let more light in.
