Adding color to a room with accents can be a lot of fun. The standard interior decorating rule is 60-30-10, with 60% of the space in a dominant color, 30% in a secondary color, and 10% in an accent color. The main colors in large spaces are often neutrals such as beige/brown, gray/off-white, white/beige, and we rely upon accent colors to inject some life and personality to our spaces. If you use much more than 20% in a bold accent color, it can seem overdone.
Flow the accent color evenly throughout the room, and from room to room by adding pops of it in other rooms in the house.
