There is something about all the extra light coming into our homes in Spring that makes us want to make them look cleaner and cheerier, emphasizing the brightness. I always get excited in Spring, eager to experience the full beauty of the season. Bringing Spring into our homes using images of natural beauty found in trees, birds and flowers, and the sunny Spring citrus and pastel shades, can transform our homes after the dreary winter and lift our spirits even further. Some things to consider:
- cherry blossoms in a vase
- floral or plaid tablecloth
- lamp shades
- valances or curtains
- floral pictures
- spring colors in bedding
- a new doormat
- floral pillows
- yellow or chartreuse furniture
- egg cups for paper clips or candies
- bird cages
Chartreuse is probably my favorite Spring color, a blend of the yellows and greens evoking new growth. I’ve put together a collection of some pretty things that could be added throughout the home to bring the outdoor cheeriness in. Click images for details.
I keep a small basket filled with miniature vintage bottles on my coffee table, sometimes tucking a sprig or two of flowers into a few of them.
Chartreuse fabric in curtains, pillows, throws or bedding can brighten a room.
Don’t forget to bring a bit of Spring into your kitchen – love those soup and cracker bowls!
Spring purples can be splashed throughout our homes in both furniture and accessories.
