Late Blooming Spring Bulbs

Some of the most spectacular tulips in Spring are the ones we wait the longest for, the tall beauties with the amazing color, well worth waiting for. Late tulips tend to be taller the later they bloom, and look spectacular in a vase. Many of these late spring bloomers are real show stoppers. If you plant your bulbs in layers, you can have early, mid and late blooming bulbs all coming up in the same location. I love large swaths of the same kinds of bulbs planted together for maximum visual impact. Having a big patch of early crocus, followed by daffodils then mid to late tulips gives you a real treat out of a single area of soil, and you can then plant annuals there to last the rest of the summer!
